Alex himself began climbing as a young man, working as a porter, then guide, then joint tour operator and finally as CEO of Baba Kilimanjaro Tours and Safaris. Having risen through the ranks himself, at times under the employment of internationally respected tour companies, he understands the challenges and the possible pitfalls.
